Meet Hunain Saeed, Senior Claims Engineer

Senior Claims Engineer Hunain Saeed is based in Dubai and as the first to hold this position in the Middle East, he has helped shape how QBE delivers automotive protection across a region defined by both rapid growth and complex consumer expectations.
Serving the UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Lebanon and Jordan, Hunain oversees every aspect of automotive claims handling. Working in close collaboration with global teams in the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia and the UK, his mission is to ensure every claim, from luxury sedans to commercial fleets, is managed with speed, consistency and precision.
But his work goes beyond technical oversight. As a regular attendee of local site visits and dealership audits, Hunain strengthens relationships on the ground, aligns service delivery with QBE’s global standards, and helps partners navigate the evolving regulatory and consumer landscape across the Gulf.
“It’s about showing we’re on the ground with our customers; we exist, and we’re here for you,” he says, an approach that reflects QBE’s commitment to proximity, transparency and service in a market where automotive protection is viewed as a value-added extension of vehicle ownership.
Hunain also brings a high level of technical expertise to QBE. Born in Oman and trained in mechanical engineering in Pakistan, he began his career in construction before returning to his true passion: the automotive sector. In Dubai, he spent four years in one of the region’s busiest BMW aftersales operations, gaining hands-on experience in diagnostics, customer engagement and advanced vehicle technologies.
“That workshop experience gave me the technical foundation I rely on every day,” he says, “It formed a foundation that enables me to bridge the gap between engineering precision and insurance performance”.
Joining QBE was, in his words, “a natural progression.” The regional and cross-market collaboration opportunity appealed to him: “I always wanted to go regional. QBE gave me the opportunity to broaden my horizons and work across multiple dealerships and markets”.
As the appetite for automotive insurance solutions grows across the Middle East (fuelled by high new-vehicle sales and a growing used-car market), Hunain’s focus is on scaling capability. Plans are underway to expand the local claims team to meet this rising demand, ensuring that QBE remains at the forefront of technical excellence and customer responsiveness.
That responsiveness is critical in a fast-paced, consumer-driven environment where reputation and trust are a priority. To boost transparency, Hunain led the development of a new coverage comparison leaflet now included in every regional sales booklet: a simple, effective way to help customers understand their protection and reduce post-sale disputes.
For Hunain, success lies in the impact his work has: “Knowing that something I’ve implemented, whether that’s a new process or training session, has improved performance or reduced escalations, is so motivating,” he says.
His outlook mirrors QBE’s broader approach of long-term thinking over quick wins and sustainable products over short-term fixes. “We build products that last. That’s why our customer retention is so high in this region.”
